Credit cards for college studentsCredit cards for college students
anchorbob said: "It's no mistake credit cards are marketed so relentlessly to college students. The companies know the kids are young and broke, and are very likely to perform poorly as it relates to credit.
They figure the parents will bail out the children, only after a ton of money has been run up and huge fees are assessed. If not, they'll nail the poor kid with a crappy credit rating, before the kid even knows what it really means.
That is a very crappy way of doing business, and it's so common. These credit card companies need to get a soul."
Ally said: "I think they just want to get as many customers as they can, and it has nothing to do with being moral.
It is shameless, but they could argue that you used the credit card and no one told you to."
katie said: "If a college student used it responsibly, a credit card wouldn't be a problem. But when you start using it to buy beer and other college needs, thats when it becomes one."
anchorbob said: "That's true, Katie. But these companies know who they're marketing to.
These kids are more likely to charge beer than be responsible."
katie said: "True.
I'll bet they would say its just business."
Sam_Colton said: "I got my first credit card when I was in college. I went bankrupt at 24. I had no idea how to use my credit responsibly, and I had way too much debt."
katie said: "Sorry to hear that.
How long ago was that?"
StudentEli said: "Hi people,
I'm really glad that I found this forum. You see, I'm a college student and right now my sociology teacher has assigned us an assignment on social action. Well the group that I am in is researching information on how credit card companys advertise their services on college stdents. I wanted to know if anyone here can reffer me to a good website where they provide good information on this subject.
Any help would be much appreciated. :)
Thanks,
