I was harrassed for 6 weeks by Capital One.I was harrassed for 6 weeks by Capital One.

I repeatedly told them they had the wrong number (and to stop calling!!!) when I answered the phone. I would also call the number and explain the situation to them. They would just lie and lie to me about it all. Also telling me that I would not receive calls in 72-48 hours...and the calls continued. It drove me insane and they stopped as soon as my college finals were over...go figure. I also had to send them a certified letter that cost me $5 to send. I feel abused now and still angry at the company for not taking me serious for 6 long weeks. I spent a lot of time and money getting the situation straightened out and I do not even get reimbursed for the money wasted answering my personal cell phone (to tell them they had the wrong number) and sending the letter to make them stop. I also made countless calls from my home phone in which I was always told they would take care of it. It irritates me they can get away with this harrassment of an innocent person by their collections.
What can I do? Or should I just shut up and be happy they finally stopped harrassing me? I just feel so irritated with the situation...
Oh...and during one call the lady wanted my ss#. My dad assured me it was okay to give them it...but after speaking with my older sister I can't be too sure. I feel like they might stick a note on my credit report saying I refused payments (when I have never owned a credit card and do not plan on it!). I guess all I can do is watch that and if something funny pops up..."

I agree with DonM. The CA's have been known to plug in SSN of people that they talk to.
I would pull my credit report and see if they listed.
I would also see if you can get an attorney to write a letter to the ceo of capital one or at least a letter on their letter head.
Next.. I would file a complaint with the BBB, FTC and you can contact the VA banking division and file a complaint with them .. they love to hammer Crap one.

So Capital One might mess with my credit report? How do I get it? I'm kind of clueless since I have never had to do it before.
Complaints were sent to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General of Oklahoma. A letter is being sent to Capital One requesting that calls to my cell phone be stopped. That was about it...that was done almost a week ago."

invest in a tape recorder.. and record any conversations you might have with these people.
