peoples problems with mbnapeoples problems with mbna
labontefan43 said: "i just want to let people know that most of the problems come from us as the comsumer not just the company you deal with i know first hand that a credit card company will send terms and conditions when a customer opens an accnt as required by law, it is their resposability as a company, however it is us as comsumers responsability to read and if you don't understand something simply pick up the phone and call... secondly for those who say " I never made a late payment" we all know that 99% of us are not telling the truth... I am not siding with the company however we are the first ones to complain when things don't go the way that WE want them to.. but lets face reality put your self in their shoes. instead of being the cause of a bad conversation be proactive read your terms and conditions of your account and read the paper statements that come in the mail all correspondence is sent in that fashion
Thank you"

DonM said: "Hehhh! NEWBIE with their first post. What a way to start out. Must be a CA or something!"
MichaelG said: "Problem is, the terms and conditions change AFTER you've received and used the cc, and not always because of a late pmt.
A new change they made recently is that they now can raise your interest rate because you incurred a late payment on your car loan! Or any company that you made a late pmt to that they see on your credit report."
labontefan43 said: "dom first of all I am on this forum due to the fact thatyou are probrobly one of the people who are the first to complain when things don't "go your way" I agree some of the practices that are done at mbna are not right, however it is really sickening that people can't own up to some of their own mistakes and stop blameing it on some one else, and correction credit analyst
and Mike you are right the terms do change after you open the accnt as I said before it is their responsability to send "important amendments to your credit card agreement" notices with your statement and your responsability to read that literature
thanks"
DonM said: "WRONG !!
If you read any my posts you'll see why I am here. Ask anyone here if I am the first to complain !!
If any daily poster wants me to go away,---let me know !!!
If you want to help people like I have in the past, be my guest. I WILL GO AWAY QUIETLY and not be heard from again.
UNTIL you do, dont make assumptions that people here are so called deadbeats that just never pay their bills and that things just dont go their way.
These are GOOD people here that have had some financial difficulties in the past trying to rectify their situation.
Replies like yours are pro-CA. You arent here to help, your here to badger and make people rethink their situation is hopeless.
These people are way smarter than that. You're wasting your time here !!"
labontefan43 said: "never once did the words dead beat come off of my finger tips what my post was about is people are always saying it is some one else fault however if some would take ownership of their own faults alot of people would not be in this forum, as far as you helping people who have had credit problems in the past I think it is great I would tell anyone who has read your post that they should listen to you what you are doing is great with out a boubt,,,, I have been in many of these peoples situations my self and some of the things you have said are true I bailed my self out of 120k indebt not to the doings of my own while serving my country I had an ex wife really screw me.. thats ok thoughi did it and by doing some of the things that you have mentioned .. rest assured it was not easy it took ten years ... i just don't think it is as easy as some make it out to be .. personally your post are awsome don't get my first post wronge most people get themselves in this situation to start with not the credit card companies.. they are not the ones applying for the card the consumer is how they manage it determines how the account preforms"
DonM said: "So you blame your situation on your ex wife but you took control of the situation and it took you ten years.
I guess as YOU said, things just didnt go your way !!
Before I go any further, I would like to thank you for protecting our FREEDOM !!
So why did it take you 10 years?? There are SEVERAL ways to correct a financial situation WAY before that.
I understand that you might have felt that you had to pay these debts but there were other options.
A BK7 is nothing to be ashamed of. This would have been good for you to get a FRESH START on your life. Prime cards and rates were only a few months away. But you CHOSE to put yourself in a more restrictive financial situation. WHY?? Situations like yours is one of the reasons why there is BK.
If you look back and look at how much further ahead you would be if you did file BK---How much farther ahead in your life-financially-would you be?? $120k/$80k/$40k ??? And not to mention the stress you were probably going through financially and the ex-wife stress.
By the way, arent EX-wifes great ??"

I had concidered bko at one point how ever there is a saying that leopard never changes his stripes.. I feel that and this is my personal feeling that if one were to file bko that they will have a propensity to file again because the bko will get them out of debt with an easy way... now with the new regulations it is next to impossible to file bko not just that but with a bko on file the lack of established revolving lines with a history of bko the only companies that will fund a cc for you will be sub prime lenders with very less than admirable rates.. the way i did it was really no secret I contacted the people I owed money to explained to them that most of this was not my debt and explained the situation and alot of them understood and removed from my credit .. that how half got resovled the other half that wouldn't work with me I made arrangements to pay what i could when I could and beleive it or not they reported that the balances were paid in full as agreed which brought my fico up drastically in 8 months
again thanks for what you do for the people in this forum i agree for the most part and not every one here had the same situation as me but to work with each and every one of the companies that you have balances with is the BEST way to repair your credit I would have to disagree with the bko way
respectfully"

I am somewhat disheartened with the fact that two thirds of the discussion here is just as focused on how to not pay valid debts, or how to sue a collection agency. Real credit repair, in my opinion, is about understanding the FICO scoring model, estabilishing good credit, having as much unverifiable bad credit deleted as possible. However, labontefan43 is an idiot. Having been caught in at least one childish lie, my only question would be, "how many years until you can drive?""

Perhaps what labontefam43 means is that it took him ten years to actually pay the debts, but that once paid his FICO score went up within 8 months. I find that more than fathomable."
