Told them the prob and they agreed to waive late fee if I made pmt by phone (although I told them I mailed over twice the min. pmt). So, I agreed and did pay by phone. Then, in frustration called another cap 1 number and told them I was considering closing acct. Supervisor came on phone and said my account was closed...wtf? Floored me, told him no....he said it was done and only needed to know if it was closed by me or by them. Well, I said if it's now closed...best if I done it. I read that they are famous for not closing the account and racking up fees...my question is: how can I proceed to cover myself against any more fees. There is a $253 balance on the act. now. Is there a letter I can send to them with the payment? I read they hold your act. open for 30 days and only if there is a zero balance will they close. Over paying leaves a balance and they will not close. Total bs, any suggestions?
