What happens when you pay less than the minimum due?

David said: "Try that with a CC and watch what happens.. The CC companies see that under payment and it would be like letting a teenager loose in a ho house. They would be running crazy all over the place slapping charged on left and right.. plus your rate would hit max allowable by law. Who remembers when charging the rates they do today was against the law.. and fell under the RICO act LOL"

dance82 said: "ok... it is a CC that I was considering doing this with, just this once to have some extra xmas money... but I guess I will just have to pay the whole minimum balance. Thanks for letting me know."

David said: "quick question. How long have you had the account? If its been a long time.. you might be able to get them to defer a payment one time.. for an Emergency. Think about your relationship with the cc company.. and go from there. if you own a house or car.. they might defer one payment for you as well."

Maybe that would buy you some time. Hard call to make on this one. If the card is current and in good standing the late could haunt you for a long time."

Representative explained that it is very important to make credit card payments on time. If you cannot make min payment make is lower payment. IT IS OK!!! They will not apply late fees if 'less min' payment was made on time. Also you may call credit card companies and tell them your situation. In most cases they will help you out with the payments especially big credit cards co. Best of luck"
