Default AMEX filed a judgement suit

I recieved an e-mail stating that AMEX filed a suit or judgement against me. How do I resolve this. I have not gotten anything from mail or anytihng at all. I tried to look up the case number from the court they said they might have filed it, but did not see anything. It says that the suit was filed in FL, and I am in CA. What should I do?

See if you can contact them ahead of time and offer settlement for dismissal of the judgement.

Usually they sue in the state that you are in and it is always recommended that you appear in court. Being that they are going out of state I would recommend that you contact a lawyer.

Also before the court date, it would not hurt to contact that court house for the county you use to live in. Find out what proper service is, if you are not served right you can dispute the judgement and file for vacation of judgement.

You sure it ain't spam. There's a world of difference between a judgment against you and getting sued, but neither happens via Email.

Exclamation phishing

no one gets notified about a court date by email. Be very careful. What is your history with AMEX?

Email lawsuits are my favorite because I can just ignore them.
